UKAS announces a name change-what does this mean for your certification?

News 2021年08月04日

In January of this year, UKAS announced that it would rename and change its website and logo. The rebranding includes changes to the certification mark used by the UK Assessment Agency and its customers.

Why did UKAS change its name?

As the only national certification body in the UK, UKAS’s clear goal is to evaluate and certify organizations such as testing and calibration laboratories and inspection and certification bodies in accordance with internationally agreed standards. To support this work, it is important to have a clear and consistent brand that represents the values and goals of the organization. As UKAS works towards a future where everything that should be recognized is recognized, the brand needs to reflect the variety of work we do in a way that presents UKAS as a modern, international and forward-looking organization sex. Information and visual effects portray positivity, aiming to clarify what authentication is, its benefits, and what it means to people. The new brand has been carefully selected to support the values and goals of UKAS as the world's leading and globally competitive certification body.

How long must UKAS customers change to the new national certification mark?

The transition period defined by UKAS is detailed as follows:

  • Digital material-1 year from the date of publication (February 1, 2022)

  • Printed materials-2 years from the date of publication (February 1, 2023)

  • Certificate-3 years from the date of issuance (February 1, 2024)

The "Crown and Tick" logo of UKAS has been widely recognized and respected as a symbol of quality and fairness. The recent rebranding is only an update, retaining the recognized "Crown" logo, with a certified "tick" and other symbols covering inspection, testing, calibration, etc.

However, there are specific rules for the use of the UKAS logo in marketing, documentation, and signage, so we have produced a guide document to support its use. The purpose of this new guide is to set the conditions that must be followed for organizations that are permitted to use the badge. You can find the new badges designed by the UK Evaluation Agency on our certification badges page.
